About Us

Company History

The Learning Curve began as The Learning Curve Mountain Bike Association, a BC-registered non-profit society operating from 2015 to 2019. The organization provided accessible mountain bike instruction through a volunteer-led model before transitioning in 2019 to The Learning Curve Mountain Biking, a sole proprietorship that continues the mission today.

Instructor Expertise

With over 15 years of experience bridging snow and trail, certified as a CSIA Level 2 ski instructor since 2008 and teaching mountain biking since 2013, The Learning Curve reflects the growing synergy between these sports. Industry trends highlight how cross-training between skiing and mountain biking enhances year-round engagement, skill transfer, and sustainability for resorts and athletes alike. Lessons leverage the balance, terrain awareness, and confidence-building shared between both disciplines, whether carving turns on snow at Grouse Mountain or navigating singletrack in the Lower Mainland.

Instruction Experience

With more than a decade of mountain bike instruction in British Columbia, the program has delivered:

  • Beginner Foundations: Multi-week progressions covering essential skills including balance, braking control, body positioning, and basic cornering techniques
  • Technical Skills Development: Focused training on climbing efficiency, controlled descents, and terrain-specific adaptations
  • Youth Programs: Specialized instruction designed for riders aged 8–18, emphasizing confidence building and fundamental mechanics
  • Adult Skills Clinics: Targeted sessions for adult riders looking to improve technical proficiency and ride more confidently in varied terrain

Instruction takes place at popular Tri-Cities locations, including Riverview Forest Trails in Coquitlam and other regional trail systems. The program emphasizes individual and small group lessons (maximum 3 participants per session) to ensure personalized attention and skill development.
